Removable handle ratchet binders?

All these discussions about ratchet binders makes me think about getting some. I see some CM ones that have removeable handles. Anyone use these? Seems like economically it makes sense, also seems nice to not have the handles get in the way, and would make storage easier. Is there any drawback to them? Also, what holds them in place with the handle removed? With most, the lock pawl is part of the handle (I think anyway).

That's part of the beauty of them - one handle fits all!
I use 4 chains/binders usually. I could get by with 4 binders and one or two handles. But they cost twice as much as the HF regular ones.
/edit - I've never tried the HF 5400lb cheapies with the removable handle. They were written up as

We purchased 4 of these to secure 2 cars to a trailer and all worked loose. Since the handle is not attached they have a lock that is to be tightened against the main body but it is very thin material and does not do the job very well.

AND there is nothing to keep the binders from loosening off other than bolt friction. I think I would rather put up with the handles being on the ratchet so one could lay the handle to the trailer bed and lock it so the binder couldn't loosen off. That and no chance of loosing the handle PLUS more than twice the cost of a regular ratchet binder. The handles make a good carry point anyway.

I think they can keep those on their shelves as far as I am concerned.

This is what I was wondering about, I don't particularly like that if that's the case.

The cost isn't my concern... (not that I am made of money) but these are high-quality USA made binders, and actually buying them without the handle and only buying 1 handle actually comes out cheaper than buying a few with the built in handles. I don't buy cheap, I would rather go without.

Thanks for the replies guys, maybe they aren't a good idea... which is what my first instinct told me. If I go the ratchet route I will probably stick to the traditional type, but will probably buy the CM's. If not, I will stick with my ratchet straps that have been working so far.

I use straps for vehicles (3" iirc). There is always a chain or two incorporated into the proceedure as well, so I thought a couple binders could come in handy at times.
