My uncle passed in 1986, that same year my aunt told me I could have the diesel, bulk tank and pump. 275 gal of red dyed farm fuel. Im not sure when KY started using red dye

According to PA's website, the tax hasn't been 64 cents since 2016. It's 74 cents and was almost 79 cents in 2023.

Last I checked California still holds number one spot for highest file tax adding up Federal, State, Local plus Underground Storage tax, etc…

Illinois get your for $.17 for sales tax. $.558 for motor fuel tax and then the federal rate of $.244

So 97.2 cent/gallon

Even more reason to not buy 1 gallon of clear for my equipment.

I paid $2.75 for red diesel Friday. Road diesel at the same time was $3.12.

I pumped 40 gallons of road fuel in the truck at the same base price of $2.75 but then they charged $21 tax on it. That’s a little high for road diesel but I didn’t want to stop twice. That’s the only place in town that sells red diesel.

Because our state tax on diesel is so high, we have 3 locations within 10 miles of my small town that sell red dyed. Why give even more money to the tax man? They’re already killing us…

I would like to know if Red dyed diesel will cause any engine or fuel line troubles. I purchased the 2023 Branson 2515H new and have been using clear On road(taxable) diesel from the start. I have recently been approved for a Red dyed diesel permit here in Texas. Off road use only. I have been running the clear On road diesel since the purchase in 2023. I was told by the supplier that it wouldn't harm anything but just wanted to post and see anyone's opinion on this. Thank you. Jim

Been running red off-road diesel for years in my tractors, my yard pickup truck and occasionally used it as home heating oil in an emergency. No ill effects at all. You'll be fine!

Just a short response (No Really, this time it'll be short! ).

The best thing about red fuel is the magical healing properties it has. When (not if, 'round here) you get hit by a red wasp, etc the best thing to do is smear some red fuel on it. Stick your finger in the fuel cap and smear it on. No welt, pain goes away, etc.

Now, I ain't sure if its the diesel or that red goop they put in it, but it do work wonders. Since I typically only get hit when I'm a bush hoggin' or cutting a field its all I got close to me. Never tried it with the clear stuff - never got hit whilst I were in my road truck.

So let's see a show of hands.

The federal gubmit tax on diesel fuel is 24.4 cents per gallon. So diesel fuel should cost 24.4 cents less in your state. PA then taxes diesel fuel a whopping 64 cents more per gallon to pay for our crappy roads.
So the difference in price between red diesel and clear diesel in PA should be 88.4 cents per gallon.

I wouldn’t think of running clear diesel in a piece of equipment here in PA, unless you like wasting 88.4 cents per gallon. Especially when I use thousands of gallons per year.

Red dye indicates no road tax, around here is about $0.27/gal

Grew up putting coal oil on boo boos. Kept cuts from getting sore and infected. Most likely was kerosene but everyone called it coal oil.

Experience since 1989 with 1720 Ford, 5040 and 3301 Kubota utility tractors. No fuel system problems. None. Fuel delivered by one common tanker and dumped into two independent underground tanks. Coop adds dye to one tank and in the winter antigell. Off road has dye added is sold minus taxes. Dye is deterrent for on public roadway use. Dye permits easy identification of illegal use of untamed fuel on public roadway. It's a bad day when someone gets caught using untamed fuel on public highways....typically a hefty fine in addition to paying taxes on all fuel they can prove you purchased .....

It’s exactly the same fuel as the road fuel with the exception of red dye added. Do you think construction companies would be using it in millions of dollars of machines if it was tearing stuff up?
