Recomended Hydraulic Hoses online?

Last year I put a hydraulic thumb on my L35. I ordered the valve and hoses from Surplus center. Last week I was using the thumb a lot on some heavy rocks and noticed one of the hoses was leaking. Not at a wear point or fitting but just seeping out of the hose midway along its length. There was no sign of any damage. This is a 1/4" hose, 12' long with -6 female JIC fittings on it. Can someone recommend a good place to buy some higher quality hose online? Any particular type to look for? Also, on some sites some times the fittings are listed by the hose size, like 1/4" JIC, instead of -6. How do I know I am getting the -6 I need for my fittings? The hose is rated to over 5000 so not sure why it is leaking.

I have had good luck with Surplus Center hoses;they were 1/4 of what our local NAPA wanted.

I get mine from Discount Hydraulic Hose. They stock every kind of hose and fitting I've asked for or suggested a better alternate - all at good prices. The hoses seem to be good quality - no uv cracks or leaks (oldest is about 6 years I think).

As far as your current seeping, stuff happens. Maybe the place you purchased from will stand behind it and give you a replacement, don't know without asking.

Oh, and you don't need 5000 PSI rated hose. 3000 is fine, it has an over 13,000 PSI bursting strength.

Yeah, I was looking at discount hydraulic hose, they have one called Hydraulax Tough that looks good. But they listed the JIC female fittings by fraction, and I am not sure the 1/4" is equal to the -6 so I just posted them that question.

I second the recommendation for discounthydraulichose.com -- you can pick exactly what kind of hose and fittings you want, and they custom make it and ship within 1-2 days. Prices are very good. Now that I know about them, I probably won't ever buy generic pre-fab hoses locally, as they always required adapters to make them work. It's a lot simpler and cleaner to get the proper fittings crimped right on.

The -xx number is in 1/16ths of an inch for JIC fittings. So a -6 is 6/16 or 3/8". If you wanted 1/4" fittings those would be -4 (4/16=1/4)

I just got two replacement hoses using Hydraulax Tough hose made up by them for the loader on our B2910.
