Rear Weight

Just thought I would post a picture of the rear weight I use to counter the FEL. So far I have lifted full buckets of wet dirt and large rocks without any problems. The weights are about 70 lbs each And if I do need more, I think I could add 4 to 8 more weights. Being on a 3pt hitch makes attaching the weights real easy. So instead of filling tires or other big contrapions for counter weights, you may want to try something like the bar. Don't know where my dealer got it from, but he is a New Holland dealer.

That looks like a neat and clean method. Let me see if I understand it. It looks like there is a long bolt holding the weights together as a unit. Then you just back the bar under the slots in the weights and lift them. Is that right? If so, I guess the only thing you have to be carefull about is not knocking them off by lowering the hitch or hitting something on the ground.

A lot of people make weights to save money. Sooo, how much for the bar and for each weight?

The bar was about $70 and I guessing the weights about $130, seems I paid $200 more or less for the whole thing. The weights are the type that I guess you could hang from the front of a tractor. They just hang on the bar and have a tight fit, not to easy to remove from the bar. The bolt is just to keep the weight from shifing around too much. All I can say is that it works real well for me.
