I looked at the grain drill that I was wanting to pull with my Kubota L3410, and the grain drill has 2 hydraulic hoses that attach to the tractor. Does this mean that I need to install 2 remote valves on the tractor?

If this is a smaller drill, the two hoses would run to one cylinder (one for UP and one for DOWN). You could run the drill by taking off the cylinder and replacing it with a racheting cylinder. You would substituting manual effort with hydraulic effort. As long as you don't need to raise/lower the unit a lot, it would work fine.

Best wishes,

The fluid that goes into the cylinder must have a way to get out of the cylinder. That is why there are 2 hoses. A single rear remote has 2 connections with each acting as either an input or output depending on which way the valve's lever was pushed.

RonR, this will be a rented grain drill so I can't modify it. That is a really good idea to use if I can find a used one to buy.

MadRederee, thanks for the info. I just need to price out adding a single remote.

Thanks for helping a newbie.

One of the things to think about if this is a rented unit that gets a lot of different users is that you are mixing whatever oil was in their tractor hydraulics into YOURS. People might be hooking these up to 40 year old clunkers that have NEVER seen an oil change..........

I wouldn't want to mix it with my transmission fluid............. It MIGHT work ok, but why risk it?

I'd either have my own cylinder to mount on it, OR use a manual cylinder screw.

Just my two cents........
