I have a "grey" Kubota B5000. I'm trying to find out what fluid goes into the rear gearbox, and to what level should it be filled? (There is a plug in the side of the housing approx. half-way up - looks like this would be the fill level?) I believe this would be the same fluid for the 3 point lift also.

Yes, that is the level it should be at (hole in middle). I just got some sight-windows that screw into that hole, and I can visually check the level without having to remove that nut.

I got my Gear Box oil at Western Auto ( I think it's 80 or 90 W).

In my tractor(L3000), the rear axle/3 point and transmission is all hydraulic fluid. The front axle is 90w gear oil.Maybe its different for your tractor though.

Use a straight SAE 80 or 90 oil. Do not use hypoid or any oils with additives which create problems for your hydraulics.
