RC glad you're happy with your new deck and the cut. Parts are real easy to get if and when you need them.

I've been using a KK RFM for the past 6 years and the only things bad about it that I've found was it came with a lousy paint job. Didn't matter though as I soon painted it New Holland Blue and foamed the pneumatic tires to prevent flat tires. I also kept losing the pins that hold the wheels and spacers in place, finally got smart and replaced them with common cotter pins. They don't fall off anymore.

It has held up well and we've been very happy with the cut.

That's a good ideal on the tire foam, I was worried about that but that will take care of it. When you say that you were losing the pin do you mean the lynch pins ? I'll have to keep an eye out for that. Thanks..........RC

I would be mowing and look back and only see 3 of the 4 tires. RATS! For some reason the lynch pins kept popping out and then I would loose the spacer set. They are $14.95 a set and I lost two sets before I wised up and tried the cotter pins. Cotter pins are real cheap compared to the spacer sets.

A spindle can only come loose when you raise the deck, it's impossible with the weight of the deck on the wheel assembly but just the same I would raise the deck to make a 180 degree turn and the tire assembly would drop off.

Did you guys get the rear discharge or side discharge? What are your likes or dislikes about either?

Never used anything but the side discharge in a finish mower but we're satisfied with it. Can't make a comparison between the two though, sorry.

I went with a rear discharge and so far it does distribute the cut grass perfectly but the main reason was that my trailer is 76 inches between the rails so it fits on the trailer with a few inches to spare. It's hums along real quiet and smooth..........rc

I've got a 72" KK rear discharge. The reason I went with the rear was the discharge area is a lot bigger. If the grass gets a little taller than it should before iI get it mowed it doesn't leave a windrow of grass. Also if you hit a rock or some other hiden object. it goes out the rear not out the side to bounce off the truck or the siding on the garage.

This past weekend I picked up a '99 RFM72. Haven't had a chance to use it yet. It's in good shape overall. The PO wasn't very good with his tractor, so the 3pt. hookup was bent on one side, and both side shields were badly bent up. I'm working on straightening everything now and greasing things up. I wondered if anyone had tryed to turn it into a mulcher by blocking off the side discharge. Mine is missing the shield anyway, and I was just going to make a cover for it. I don't think it would be too bad as long as the grass wasn't too long. Any opinions?

I have a bush hog 72 rear discharge. What amachine I love it. KK sells a mulching kit for most of their large cutters. Check one of these out before buying new blades or other stuff to convert to a mulcher.
