Rear differential lock

I have a new holland tc45da. I find the “left heel” pedal for locking the differential to be very inconvenient to use.

Has anyone tried to improve it? I’d really like to install a solenoid that I could control with a console button.

Many of the tractor accessories fabricators sell a square plate that fastens to the pedal to make it easier to step on. See the link. Kinda expensive, but someone handy with steel could make something similar.

Diff lock pedals are meant to be somewhat out of the way I think, as it's meant to be used fairly infrequently, not all the time. If you find that you're using it all the time, you probably need to do some terrain smoothing so you're not operating the tractor at or beyond the front axle articulation as much. The only time I need to stomp on mine is when I've crossed it up completely and it's just spinning opposites, like when crossing a ditch at an angle. Otherwise, 4wd is pretty much the answer, as ground contact pressure stays pretty constant until the front axle is maxed out one way or the other...

Mine already has a plate like shown above welded to it, so that might be a good plan if it's just too small to get a good boot on...

I almost never use it, but when I need it I can barely find it.

I put a pedal extension from BoltOnHooks on my old Deere, and one from Specialty Repairs and Custom Mods on my Kioti. I've got giant feet and this gives me more to work with; my boots don't slip off them when it's wet or icy.

I was sold the minute I put the BOH model on my 1025R, it made such an instant difference.

Nice boots!!

I used mine a lot for the first couple of winters while bringing out hitches of wood. I should have paid more attention though as I ended up wrecking it. Someday I will dare to take it apart and fix it.
