I don't know how broad the TBN demographics are, they probably represent a unique demographic more than a broad one. I'd guess that the typical TBN user lives in a rural area but also has pretty good computer skills. This means that rural America is probably over represented, the suburbs underrepresented, and the city dwellers all but excluded. You'll notice, for example, that there's a disproportionate number of pickups in this list which skews the numbers towards these manufacturers. Interestingly there are a lot more people with more than one vehicle per person than I would have expected (of course, this could indicate that the poster is a "car guy" and therefore more likely to post in a thread like this). This may be a side effect of the pickup truck issue as my next vehicle will likely be a pickup but if I need to start driving frequently I'd supplement with a more appropriate commuter vehicle.

Some may say that this skew towards farmers is a welcome change from the general feeling that there's a barren wasteland between the two coasts, but it all depends on what's happening to these statistics. If this is for a class, then perhaps one of the most important things to learn about statistics is that you can prove whatever you want if you ask the right question to the right people. If you're not getting the distribution you want, just open it up to a wider demographic and I'm sure eventually you will :)

Just to add to your numbers:
Me: Mercedes (a 'Bama Benz)
Wife: Toyota

I'd be curious to see how you process the results you get here, but of course you should only reveal that once you've got all the data you need lest knowing the purpose skews the results.

I'll start with my brother and sister who live next door, they would make the best comparison to the average outdoor living TBN folks, only from a European perspective:
Brother (self enployed blacksmith) has a Mercedes Vito 108D Van
his wife drives a Toyota Corolla..

What you'd see in Holland is: No pickup but a 2.5 ton GVW Van with a 4 cylinder 90 hp diesel, and no big saloon or SUV but a small Corolla 1.6 for the wife.
