Watching it right now, it updates every 2.5 minutes. One The Road....In Your Area....Almost there It's been on Almost There for easily 20 minutes and was less than a mile away. Now it's almost 7 miles away in a small rural town. :D

UPS tracking got kind of weird. They now have a map where you can watch an icon of the truck moving around your area as it gets closer to you. Just watched it make stops at a few nearby houses, then could look out and watch the driver walk up my driveway with the package.

Right on schedule too, but not from AMZ.
I do not like all this privacy invasion. I live on the end of a 1000 private driveway and there should not be any camera recording of my driveway or house. Google street view shows my mailbox from the public county road and that is all there should be. If that video feed is hacked and watched to see what houses on the UPS route have a bunch of boxes in front of it (person is away) it is a bullseye for package thieves. And more.

The problem is the many people who will claim that the package was never delivered, hence the Amazon person taking a picture of the package on your porch.
hard to argue that the package was delivered when they have a picture of it sitting on your porch.

^^^That is what a lot of the drivers do around here.

I shipped a Miller push/pull wire feeder box (50 pounds) UPS last week to a fellow who needed it for a spare. The nice lady at the UPS counter advised me to NOT request “signature required” as some drivers wishing to avoid contact would probably not even attempt delivery.

He received it next day —damaged even though I packed it REALLY well and even left the top carry handle exposed to make it easier for handling.

The buyer said they must have dropped it from at least a four or five foot height on its corner. He had to rebend the sheet metal work in order to open the hinged side cover.

Lucky you.
The exact opposite here, good service in the past & CRAP now.
Order from PA went to Indianapolis then to Detroit and has sat there for two days less then 30 miles from me.
All that took a week.
I could have had pony express deliver it faster.
Similar here. Package sat 30 miles away for 4 days.

Saw something the other day saying a driver took a picture of the package on the porch, then picked it up and took it.

We are on a Rural Route and know our Mail Lady well. Ordered an electric can opener from Amazon and it shipped 3 weeks later (non essential item I guess). We watched it all the way to our mailbox and the "Delivered" message arrives, walk up to the mailbox and all that is there in a manual can opener that was ordered at the same time but hadn't yet shipped. Immediately talked to the Mail Lady and she said only the small manual can opener had come. Waited a couple more weeks for it to arrive and called Amazon for a refund. No problem.

In 10 years, 2 items have failed to arrive and 3 items have been damaged. Never a problem having the issue's resolved.

Wife ordered a $1600 Sony camera 2 years ago that couldn't take a clear photo and we received a small Convection Oven as a Christmas present that had been used and was still covered with grease. They have always made good.

I got a tracking number today for an Ebay flashlight from Hong Kong. I discovered this company
Courier and postal services
will tell you which courier the seller uses, and will display progress of the package.

My tracking number was a Yanwen number. Parcelsapp says this is an intermediary (similar to UPS) who collects parcels and takes them to China Post in bundles, apparently to go through export Customs and then get handed to an airline. A China Post tracking number is assigned to the package as soon as they are aware of it (and before it is in China Post's hands).

The Yanwen # will track progress of the parcel within China. Then the new China Post tracking number can be recognized by USPS and will show progress clear to the buyer's door if the higher-cost YANWEN Express option was chosen by the shipper.

A caution that I read elsewhere is that these tracking results will sometimes be posted by Yanwen or other intermediaries earlier than the actual progress of the parcel through the system. But if the seller has chosen a reliable shipping handler, then its rare for a shipment to disappear. In particular the Chinese government works hard to make shipping reliable for exports and anything within their control should be reliable, if at times slow.

I have baby chicks coming in... they were delivered to USPS in PA at 4:00 PM Tuesday. Usually it takes 2 days for them to get here... according to the Postal Service they will get her "By 8:00 PM Saturday."
If that's correct, I will be receiving a box of dead chicks. However, due to their useless tracking I an taking today off in case the chicks arrive today; if they don't, I'm also cooling my heels tomorrow... just in case.

This is giving more ammo to "PETA", who is trying to get shipping chicks through the mail outlawed.

I'm not sure who or what to believe as far as tracking. I got an email notice on Tuesday morning from Stamps.com that a package had shipped. I talked to the merchant on Tuesday afternoon about something else and they confirmed the package had shipped. But USPS tracking doesn't show it accepted into their system until late Wednesday night.

The first is the vendor simply stating that they have created a label and entered it into the system.
The second is when the USPS system actually took possession of your parcel. In the case of my chicks above, they created the label on May 14 and notified me of the tracking number and projected shipping date of May 19. Once the USPS takes control it disappears into their system and tracking is completely worthless.

Priority mail used to mean 2 day shipping. You also could keep track of your parcel, just as with UPS. Not so much anymore though. The CV-19 excuse doesn't work either, as this changed a year or two ago.

Ordered potting soil from Amazon May 2, delivery was suppose to be May 4. Got it today, 17 days late! During those 17 days got multiple email notices saying "will be delivered tomorrow". "Tomorrow" was a moving target and UPS tracking was useless.

I'm still waiting for the seeds I ordered on April 22; it's getting rather late to get dried beans in the ground. When I ordered they said to expect 12-14 working days to ship, now they're just saying "As fast as we can get them out", and have curtailed accepting orders. That's not because of shipping though, it's because all of the seed companies got swamped.

Edit; I just tried to check on the status of my order... they must have their link shut down. The webpage does have a notice saying that orders placed in the time frame of mine are going out this week. My soil temps are just getting warmed up enough for planting anyways.

If you don't want the seeds when they come, just REFUSE the package.
No hassle with return label etc.
Take a picture of the refused package (you don't have to be there to refuse at time of delivery).
Watch your credit card statement to be sure you get a credit.

Ordered potting soil from Amazon May 2, delivery was suppose to be May 4. Got it today, 17 days late!

Pardon my saying so, but why would you order something like potting soil online? Wouldn't it be easier to just go to Lowe's/HD/your local garden center?

Nearest Lowes or Home Depot are 3 hour round trips. A local garden center does not exist. It's the price of living in the boondocks. :cowboy:

BTW I contacted Amazon to complain and they gave a $5 credit for the 17 day delay.
