Rant on shipping

Ordered a Curt hitch from Etrailer about two weeks ago. Free shipping, I think I had ordered it on a Friday, came on Tuesday, one day early via UPS!

My FedEx deliveries have been getting better. My road is actually and easement and was not on GPS when we bought this place three years ago. People are telling me that it is showing up on their GPS lately so perhaps that is helping. Prior to that I would get notices that my product had been delivered, not! I did not find FedEx's website for complaints to be very helpful.

A little after 630 Friday morning, USPS Informed Delivery showed two packages bouncing back and forth between distribution centers about 100 miles away. At that point, it showed both were scheduled for delivery Saturday, as it had for the past few days. By 930 Friday,I had both packages. I checked ID again just to see what it showed. They had skipped all of the normal scans between there and here (usually about 6-8) and went straight from one of the DCs to 'Delivered'.

I'm getting everything as scheduled, in town. Amazon can even be days earlier than listed.

But out at the ranch, when I bought a ROPS it disappeared in transit. UPS listed it delivered. A week later I found it hidden in tall weeds halfway from the lane to the house.

This is weird. Responses going to wrong threads.

This has happened before and happening to me right now. I've been ordering direct from vendors or ebay but made the mistake of using amazon again. It finally shipped yesterday from KC warehouse. Amazon tracking shows it arrived in St Lou this am and will be here tomorrow. I cut n paste that same number in USPS and it hasn't left KC.
So amazon has better tracking of USPS than USPS?

I had that happen to me once with a Buck knife I had ordered for a fantastic price. They kept showing it getting closer and closer right up to the arrival date- but when I went to my mailbox it wasn’t there. They then started the countdown again, but after a week or so admitted they didn’t know where it was and gave me a refund. I suspect that it never left the POB... either somebody needed a good knife or more likely, suddenly realized they were losing money on it.

As of this moment, USPS tracking still shows:

TODAY

Expected Delivery
by 8:00 PM

I get my mail by 1030 most every day. I got my normal mail by 930 today. I'm pretty sure this package ain't coming today.

Amazon is still playing games and lying to us. The Wife ordered a Bread machine a month ago, several hours before daughter in law ordered the exact same unit. We don't even have a ship date yet and daughter received hers today. You would think "first come, first served" Not! Got torqued off and cancelled the bread machine and the unit disappeared from their website completely. A few minutes later it popped back up and we reordered and this time got a ship-by date. This is Prime but I'm not holding my breath. Getting tired of the Baloney.

I buy and also ship stuff both domestically and internationally. UPS can't track packages after they leave our borders to Asia/Europe.

Also since COVID started disrupting things, delivery promises aren't as good as they were prior... hopefully this isn't the new normal. I still find Amazon Prime to be pretty accurate but often the two day delivery isn't offered..

As far as signatures upon receipt our UPS and FEDEX folks just have you tell them your name and they set the package on the ground trying to maintain the 6ft. Also it seems there are a lot of independent contractors in private vehicles making deliveries to us lately as well. Only seen this at Xmas time. I think shipping companies are struggling with COVID more than we maybe know. There has been some scrutiny of Amazon's operations due to employee complaints but the company is not divulging much.

I finally got around to ordering the limb trimming attachment mentioned here
...The funny thing is the price had gone up about $15 dollars since I had posted that link for an e-bay vendor...however I found the exact same attachment for sale at Home Depot Online for the lower price...the really funny thing is I chose to have the item shipped to me at home and it is due to be delivered the middle of next week...had I chosen to have it shipped to the local HD store for pick up...it would not get there until the very end of this month or the first week of July... go figure...!

I ordered a clock motor last weekend. I got notified that it was shipping on June 2. USPS tracking still says that it's still waiting to be picked up, so I don't know what's going on.

I can suggest one thing... the seller quickly prints out the shipping label which allows them to charge you for the item immediately. Now, when it actually 'ships' is totally a different story. That will be if and when they get around to it.

I recently ordered some covid-19 nose supports so my spouse could sew up a few for our use. Seller promised shipment within 3 days. Two weeks later they still haven't been picked up by any carrier. And no reply from seller as to 'why'. After 3 weeks I finally just cancelled my order and rated the seller as bottom of the barrel.

Yeah, I did get some cock & bull story about the carrier not picking them up. And also about how they were going to refund my money and ship them to me free. Bonk! None of that happened. It does prove that brick and mortar stores where you can put your hands on the product you need have some value. Online ordering is good, but not a cure-all.

I suggest you find another source for your clock motor if at all possible. The one you thought you bought is perhaps just vapor-ware.

Ordered some fiberglass resin and mat on June 4

ebay seller quoted June 9-11 delivery in listing

If I order the item today- seller ad quotes it arriving 3 days sooner than the same item ordered 2 days ago.

Lately getting conflicting info on who the carrier actually is.

ebay order details lists UPS.

Tracking history shows USPS Priority mail

But Click on the tracking history and it shows it moving by UPS :confused2:

^^ Sellers don't list shipping dates and times. The site extrapolates them from the seller's stated handling times, shipping method/carrier and past history.

You package may be traveling via UPS Surepost, where UPS carries it to the 'last mile', hands it off to your local Post Office and your mail carrier delivers it.

They charged my CC as soon as I placed my order. That has gotten me in trouble on more than one occasion... I may not be in a big hurry to get an item but if you take my money the rules change... I want to have confirmation, and an idea of when I can expect my order. I have cancelled or threatened to cancel more than one payment through Paypal or my CC because somebody took my money and then didn't take the time to tell me WTF was going on. I'm (still) a sucker for "Made in USA", yet too often that's merely a gimmick. Especially when it comes to blue jeans.

On the other hand, last time I checked the Chinese company which sold me two Dewalt battery clones still hadn't charged my account... and I received them several weeks ago.

3+ weeks. My Ebay flashlight shows picked up by the local parcel-delivery company but not acknowledged received by China Post, or by the next step, an airline.

I wonder if the various processing stages described by the initial shipping company are imaginary.

This illustrates why I would pay the substantially higher US-based price for the same item on anything expensive, or that I needed timely.

I never can tell what country Amazon items are shipping from. Very shady and irritating.

My stuff arrived and I wanted to review one item which was a cheapo aftermarket carburetor for a string trimmer that was on the verge of retiring in a landfill.
I get this default message (email removed)

We apologize but Amazon has noticed some unusual reviewing activity on this account. As a result, all reviews submitted by this account have been removed and this account will no longer be able to contribute reviews and other content on Amazon. If you would like to learn more, please see our community guidelines. To contact us about this decision, please email.

It could be a bot glitch but I sent them a response asking why. Something seemed odd in that the last review I did may have never shown up and I do recall it would not let me upload a picture.I was going to show what problems you might encounter on this install. Anyway a lot of these companies want free feedback reviews etc. Anymore I don't...hey I'm not working for free. I kept it up on amazon just to help others as they had helped me in purchases and pitfalls. I think I've been on amazon for about 21 years? That response was a wake up call to never do a review again.

The grapple that I ordered from MTL on May 30 shipped Monday... their estimated delivery was today. Now the shipping co's site shows that it's still in Mass. Still, for an item that size I'm not complaining. I only hope that it shows up tomorrow as I would like to try it out this weekend.
