Barrs stop leak is a good product, but it should never be used as a repair, but rather as a stop gap method until a repair can be done. If you have a leaking head gasket, then the gasket should be replaced and the cause of the failure determined. Also, it has a long term detrimental effect on such moving parts as the water pump. You should also renew the anti freeze every two years since the lubrication properties of the fluid are used up. You wouldn't use the same engine oil for two years without changing it, but for some unknown reason people believe that the anti freeze never needs changing. Old anti freeze breaks down and the damage that it can cause will far exceed the original cost of replacement anti freeze. With today's wide variation of quality of drinking water, I suggest that you purchase the premixed anti freeze. It is a little more costly, but in the end, it will be a better long term decision. In the short run, Barrs will get you out of trouble, but in the long run, Barrs will cause you trouble. If you are planning on keeping this tractor for a long time, then do the repair properly. Many people never have the time to fix it correctly the first time, but they always find the time to repair the original fix a second or third time. Fix it correctly the first time and never have a need to look back. Learn from others experiences.
