Radar detector

I don't know as I don't have one.
I always thought the police should pass out radar emitters to whoever would want one, that would set off the radar detectors. Then those with a radar detector would slow down. Hmmm? Wouldn't that be interesting? Going the speed limit.

You've got a devious mind. I like that. We could have fun.

The only glitch on that I could think of would be all the rear ender crashes when the radar dependent hit their brakes and those on the phone in a hurry following them didn't. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif Especially when there wouldn't be any cops around to work the accident./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Many experts say the Valentine 1 is the best of all.

Valentine One is the best way to go... it's expensive ($400) but has the best features, best range, etc.

The Escort Passport 8500 would be a decent alternative if you want to spend less ($300)...

Buddy of mine used to live on a road with 35mph limit and no enforcement. We noticed one day that when I parked my old police car in front of his house traffic slowed considerably.
A couple weeks later, we hung an old microwave burglar alram unit in front of his house, and sat back listening to tires lock up as their radar detectors went off. They'd creap along the road looking for Smokey.
When the cops caught wind of what we were doing, they set up a real radar trap 1/2 mile past my buddy's house, and did a land office business.
The difference in time between 40 mph and 60 mph don't amount to much unless you're going a long distance, and it sure as he!! doesn't stack well against the time you have to work to pay the fine.

The guys on the GL1800 (goldwaing) board all seem to prefer the Valentine.
My preferred radar detector is my eye on the speedometer /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif ... I almost always drive faster than the posted limit - usually at 5 mph, keeping two things in mind: my speedo (bike, minivan, truck, motorhome) is inaccurate ... almost always on the high side, and cops seem to be more concerned with speeders rather than "nibblers" like me.
Besides, many o fthe places I've travelled have made detectors illegal - even to own.
