Hey gang, I snagged my throttle on a rip in my pant legs last fall. It bent the throttle lever and pushed it past the stop. No big deal, but it ended up pushing it so far that it moved the throttle cable where it clamps down. I thought I got it put back in the original place (there seems to be some scuffs on the cable to somewhat indicate the old position). I do not think I am reaching full throttle now. I can push the throttle lever by hand, and will get more rpm, but how do I know if I am not over-revving? Is the throttle lever meant to be pulled as far as it will go?
I found the service manual here:
http://www.kohler-engine-parts.opee...22_CH23_CH25_CH26_CH730_CH740_CH745_CH750.pdf
and on page 55 it shows the linkage, in the manual it talks about using a tach to set this up initially, will I need one now?
Thanks for any help!
Dave

move the throttle lever to the full throttle position. loosen the throttle cable clamp and take out the slack in the cable, then retighten the throttle cable clamp and you should be fine.

So you cannot introduce an over rev by setting the throttle cable to full open? I love this mower and just want to be sure that I am not going to screw anything up. I will get my spring maintenance done in the next week or so and will change oil, air and oil filters, plugs and grease her up. The blades looked pretty good, but I will check those too. Man I am glad spring is almost here.
Thanks, Dave

the throttle controls mounted on the engine should have a stop to prevent any further movement past a certain point. so unless you bent the stop all should be fine.

Thanks Randy, I appreciate the help! I got my all my supplies and will get her ready for spring this week. My wife got me a Michigan suspension seat for xmas and it bolted right up. I took it for a quick spin and it is really nice.
Lookin forward to spring, Dave
