Took my snow thrower of my BX23 for the season and tried to mount the FEL again. The retractable collar on one of the 4 qc fittings won't snap foward in place when the 2 fittings are mated fully. All The bearings are free and clean. What's the problem? thanks, Larry

Not quite fully mated? Try twisting a little.

Are you sure it is fully mated? A little internal pressure could keep it from being in place. Did you relieve the pressure?

I had a very rare problem a few months back where the little internal spring broke and the collar would not snap back into position by itself. I ended up putting on a new connector end.

I had a similar problem with the chute rotator hoses for my rear snow blower a couple of years ago. There was no way I could get the connectors to lock despite the connectors being at an ideal height and position and pressure completely released on the hoses. I finally used a heat gun to warm the female connector on the tractor and the collar easily fell into place. I have not had the same problem since but that may be because I seldom remove the connectors over the winter. Perhaps it was a unique condition caused by a certain (cool) temperature while trying to reconnect and the heating fixed that. I was surprised when heating fixed it.
