What do you mean "plus fuel"? Right now diesel costs the same, or less, than unleaded regular around here. I saw the local station had regular unleaded at $2.19 tonight, and diesel was $1.95.

Gas here is 1.79, diesel is 1.89, but in the past 10 years diesel has been from .30 to more for diesel, and you can bet both will be going up soon.

Anyone have a pro 3.73 ratio opinion? I'd like to hear it. 4.30s are prob only 1/100. The rest are 3.73.

If they tow that much better with little GPM penalty then seems like Ford would make a lot more.
:confused3:
It's the perception of a gas motor, 3/4 ton truck with 4.30 gears must get terrible mileage, but reality is its around 1 mpg difference because of the tranny. My truck at 70 is turning about 2200 rpm, my friends is about 1900 with 3.73's.

I'm negotiating on a truck with 4.30s now. Will probably cost me about $1.25k more than the same truck with 3.73s just because there are lots more out there. The actual option is $390. Tough pill to swallow but got to do what the internets say I guess. LOL. It's a basic XLT with "value package."

Also gonna end up with A/S tires. I'd rather have A/Ts (actually I really love the BFG K02s I have now). All the dealer can do is get me the A/Ts at cost. Wish there was some reliable way to sell the A/S tires I'm going to get.

I'll get the 18" rims as they are standard. BTW the tires on the 17" rims are smaller diameter.

I'll add an aftermarket rear view camera for bumper pull hook ups (any advice here?). Also line-x including the bed rails. Also a hidden gooseneck hitch and Carhart seat covers.

I used to have a guy that worked for me that bought new trucks fairly often. He would drive straight from the truck dealer to a tire dealer. As long as the tires had less than 100 miles in them they would give him new wholesale price for the factory tires towards the tires he wanted.

Yeah Luke, you went from a used truck, iirc in the 12-15k range, to the new truck smell real fast!
You know we love spending other folk's money here. Good luck with your "negotiations"

I was even looking to spend more that that on used!

I want to start rust free or nearly so. Finding a lightly used late model F250 arround here is not easy!

/ Questions on 2016 F250 #51
I would never say it's impossible to find that lightly used heavy truck. But I will say that with 3/4T trucks and up, the chances are much less. 1/2T, very common. It seems people spend the money and buy heavier trucks to use. Light duty trucks are mostly used as cars.

I noticed the local Ford dealer still has the F-250 on their lot that I tried to make them deal on a couple months ago. Oh well, guess they wanted it to sit on their lot more than they wanted to sell it.lol

Your absolutely right. I could eventually find the right used truck but my current inspection runs out at the end of the month.

Wish I had the time.

Wish I would have known before we traded ours. It was a 2015 F-250 4x4 crew cab with 6.2. It had 20,700 miles and was in perfect shape with a BW gooseneck hitch, spray in Bedliner and ranch hand front and rear bumpers. Got 27k on the trade in for it.

Ya, that sounds like that would have been a good one.

Used trucks like that are everywhere in Texas.
Lots more Superduties as status symbols there IMO (absolutely not saying that's true in your case). Also a higher population density in Texas.

My plan had been to fly to Atlanta or San Antonio (my family is still near by), buy a powder-puff used truck and drive it back as an adventure with my oldest son in a few years. :confused3:

Turns out I underestimated how much metal could dissappear per year!

I put a factory backup camera on my XL truck after the fact as it was cheaper Google factory backup camera and you should fine several companies selling them. You will have to have a after market radio or GPS to hook it to.

/ Questions on 2016 F250 #57
If you looking used, open up a little and look ar GM and Dodge. They are all good trucks. I just got my truck a few weeks ago and it was tough finding a used 3/4 ton.

Dealer says $1200+ to install factory backup camera. I think there's been a recent thread on this Ill look for later but...
Any aftermarket backup camera suggestions? All I REALLY want it for is trailer hook-ups.

I used these guys for my 2015 Factory Integrated Backup / Rear View Camera but they don't have a Ford one listed price was about $300 for camera and tailgate handle and cable to cab of my truck which I hooked up to after market stereo and Bluetooth/hands free system. I also wired so it can be turned on anytime.

etrailer.com has back up cameras. I got one for the camry that runs wirelessly to a separate screen for viewing. The screen for the tundra goes in one of the overhead bins. It utilizes the factory wiring harness. Both are powered by the backup light circuit. Jon
