Questions for TBN members who own plasma cutters

/ Questions for TBN members who own plasma cutters #71
I built a pipe property entrance cutting the copes with a Hypertherm 30 XP. Air compressor was hooked up to a welder / generator and hypertherm connected directly to the compressor with no moisture mitigation other than draining every day. I had to change the consumables once over a week's work. I don't think dry air is as critical as many write about.

That's good to hear! I was looking for a way to be able to use the PC remotely as well in almost the same application.. thanks for the information.

The IR cooler has an automatic drain also. I use a Motor guard filter system also.

+1 on the Motor Guard filter. Mine is mounted on the plasma cutter cart fed by a reel of 1/2" hybrid air line for cart portability and 40' of 3/4" copper tubing for a radiator with an automatic drain water/debris filter at the Quincy dual stage air compressor outlet and a dual auto. drain set at the other end of the copper with all ball valves the full flow type. The air at the plasma is around ambient temperature and dry. All of my consumables last quite awhile unless I am dragging the tip. I am considering adding an auto drain valve for the compressor itself in case I happen to forget to drain it.

In the last 24 hours, I have cut 10,000"+ of 1/4 steel and 4000"+ of 14ga steel.
80%+ humidity and drained the water filter 3 times.
All the consumables still look/cut good.
No auto drains, no cooler.
I have not drain the compressor in 4-5 months, it is about time I did that.
I am on track to cut 1 mil+ " this year.

I assume you have a CNC table giving you the most consistent cut/spacing and no dragging? I think the OP's situation is a bit different. All that said... pretty impressive.
