questions about installing field tile?

I have a couple questions about field tile

1. If you install a 6in perf tile how wide sure your trench be? Does it need to be wider than the pipe?

2. I guess what I am asking is do I need a trench 1.5x the size of the diameter of the pipe?

3. does anyone know of a good supplier in ohio for tile?

I would think it depends on soil. Here in Ks. we use it on outside and inside
of basements to drain to sump holes.We use it with a sock around it because
of clay soil and gravel 12" cover.If your soil is more sandy you could dig 8"
trench no gravel.Use a sock tile they can plug up.Framer

Only an opinion, but Id say if you have a 6" trench and a 6" pipe fits, go for it.
I assume this is for a septic or drainage?
Less distrubance, less to settle with time and Less to backfill

With Irrigation installs, I am always very fussy about cleaning the bottom of the trench and staking/blocking elbows. not sure but at least the cleaning would apply here.

Either way good advice to go with the socked pipe recomended above

well how deep you going
here if your going down to the footing you gots to go at least 6ft to get to the bottom of things for drain tile so if you go down 6ft your trench should be 9 ft wide at top so it doesnt cave in on you course if you havent been in a trench that collapses on you and arent worried about safety dig it as narrow as you can work in

My father in-law dose the tiling on our farm land in Iowa. He has a tiling machine that digs a 6 foot deep trench 1 foot wide.
