Questioning Lift Angle

The mount points on the truck are to high and the angle was to sharp with the shorter A-Frame.

Oh, that angle.....:confused3: Yeah, that set-up ain't right...

Why did you lengthen it? And your mount doesn’t look very heavy duty. The first fixed object you hit it’s done for.

I lengthened it where the plow would sit more level on the ground. The original was 1/2" angle, this one is 3/8". Hopefully, it will survive.

It's easy to jump in after the fact, but is there a reason you didn't drop the mounting point on the truck?

Yes. Not registered or tagged. This truck is only used for plowing us and 2 or 3 neighbors. I only have a Hobart Handler 140 wire feed welder which is a little to light duty for this purpose. A professional welder built my new A-Frame and his shop was 30 miles away.

Lowing the mount on the truck, or raising the pin points on the plow, or a combination of both. All preferred methods over lengthening the a-frame.

The farther the plow is out front, the more stress there is in everything due to lots more leverage

And that downhill angle.....as you are plowing, you are trying to lift the whole front of the truck

Good points. It may be time for a more robust stick welder.
