I have just a quick question regarding the hydro light on the dash of my L4150.
I just received my tractor from the dealership, with a complete oil/filter and hydro fluid/filter change, now the hydro light has come on. Spoke to the dealer about it, they sent me a new filter, but stated I should just drive it for a while
that it more than likely has air in the filter and the sensor is thinking that it's clogged, and it should work it self out.
Not sure how long I should use the tractor before thinking about changing the filter. Dealer seems to be an upstanding service company and does lots of business, so I really have no reason not to believe what they say.
Just wondering seeing that I just got the tractor..
TIA
Jeff

If the rpm is lowered to idle does the light go out? On my L5450 (nearly identical) the light comes on at startup if it's cold out. (like 15 degrees) It goes out in a couple minutes but may come on again for a short time if I rev it up. One thing to try is adding 3 or 4 quarts of hydraulic oil to the transmission. The added depth may keep the filter from sucking air bubbles. The fluid they filled it with may be slightly heavier than what was in it before. Or maybe the filter they installed has slightly more flow resistance.

Temperature was around 32 windy and rainy. Only got to drive around the yard a couple of times. Fluid is just above the bottom line. They used Kubota udt.

Does the light stay on or eventually go out?

Edit: (see post #6 below)

It has an oil light left side of easy checker, it stays on. It was the only filter they had left, been sitting for a while. He said they ordered two more just to have on hand. They sent me one of the new ones.

Ok that's the same setup as my L5450 has. There are two switches on the hydraulic pump that control that light, one for vacuum and one for temperature (see attachments). Make sure the wires and plugs are in place and ok. Seems fishy it has a new symptom after somebody changed the oil?

I'll check the plugs. I honestly don't think they had a new filter. The one that is on it looks brand new, seeing they ordered 2 new ones, and sent me one of them. But who knows. I think I'll run it for a little while, I know the fluid is new if it doesn't go out in a few hours, I'm going to change filters. Does that seem reasonable?

If the loader goes up and down ok, there's no need to worry about the light.

The pump can be damaged if it doesn't get oil, but normal loader motion is proof it's getting oil. With the tractor at high idle in neutral, raise and lower the loader several times. Cycle the bucket curl too. Maybe that will burp it and shut off the light.

Loader seemed to be fine, it went up and down, like I said I really didn't get to do much, because of weather, just trying to be proactive, seeing I just got it. It's 2 1/2 hours away, so I can't just jump on it and try everything. Should be going in a week so hopefully I can put it to work and straighten something out while I'm there.

Sorry I didn't realize the machine is 2 1/2 hours away. Take care, Dick B

Dick, no need to be sorry, would like to have all the info I can, so I can have a few things to look for. It's in the middle of nowhere, lol, cell coverage is spotty, so the more I know ahead of time, the better off I'll be. Thanks for all the positive in put.

I have a L5450 and have had the transmission fluid on the low end of the dipstick since changing the fluid probably ~3 years ago. I haven't had a light come on.

To clarify, there was a mention of "hydro" in regards to the transmission. I am under the impression all were power shuttles, either with dry or ever clutch?

By the way, my fleet of tractors is up to 11 now and this L5450 remains one of my favorites and most reliable.

So, you have a good unit in your L4150. Congratulations!

Tom: jms13 has posted some pics here of this nice L4150.

After reading the page posted above about how the clogged hydraulic filter warning light works, I think the thermal switch on mine is faulty and allowing the light to come on on cold startup. I think your switch is functioning correctly, preventing the false warning light at low temps.

I agree the term "hydro" is used to refer to hydrostatic drives, which are quite different from the dry or wet clutches in L3 machines. Dick B

Dick,
I agree should of used "hydraulic Oil" light on easy checker dash. Wasn't really thinking of Hydrostatic at the time.

haven't been able to try any of the suggestions, YET, but will be able to in two more weeks. I do have a brand new filter and a gallon of Kubota UDT.
Hopefully with warmer temps and a good amount of warm up for the tractor, the light will go off. If not I will be changing the filter and adding fluid.
Crossing my fingers....
Not sure about this but it was on a trailer for about 2 hours, before I got it, just wondering if maybe this had something to do with the light? :confused3:

thanks for advise.

/ Question regarding L4150 Hydro light on dash #17
The light comes on if the circuit goes OPEN. Maybe some connection jiggled loose during the trailer ride.

Just a short update,
I was able to run the tractor for about an hour, idling and moving around the yard, ran it up to about 540 pto speed, moved bucket in all directions
raised and lowered 3pt turned on pto. The light is still ON!
Next step is trace down the wires, thanks to rbargeron, and then replace filter and add more fluid.
Thanks for all the help.
