Hey all, I am in the market for a new riding lawn mower. I have just over an acre to mow and have been looking at deere and kubota but think i like the deeres a little better. I talked to one dealer and he told me not to go with the 100 series as the x300 would be a better buy. I went to another dealer - was in the area - and spoke to them. They have one from this year - 2006 x300 38in cut with a bagger on sale for 2850, basically getting the bagger for 50 bucks. Is this a good deal? or should i also consider some other tractors. I really dont want to spend any more than that anyways since i am spending enough on the new house. Thanks in advance

happy new home owner who cant wait to mow!

oh - and the only thing i am concerned about is the 38 deck - kinda wanted min of 42 but let me know what you think.

The pricing you got is very good. Most of us dealers sell the X300 series at list price, as there is not a high mark-up on the smaller tractors. I also prefer the 42" deck in regards to width - it allows you to trim along the left side of the deck better - but the 38" deck actually mows a little nicer, and bags much better... The 38" deck is an older (and IMHO a better) design, and is more of a "deep dish" deck than the 42"

It is up to you if you think the additional $300.00 in savings is worth the mower deck difference...
