Forks QA Problems

Switching over to the quick-attach system isn't going well for me. The QA adapter wasn't made quite right, there wasn't enough space for the bucket cylinder crosstubes; and now that I've got that fixed, it turns out the pallet fork attachment I got (at the same time,from same seller) doesn't work with the QA adapter - the angle is wrong. At full rollback, the forks tilt down at about 11 degrees. The bucket fits better, it sits flat on the ground at full rollback (the OEM bucket tilted back a little).

Seller wants to take back the QA adapter and modify it so the forks will work, but I'm afraid that will result in the bucket tilting too far back. Any suggestions?

Your QA adapter should curl back much, much further than that. The QA plates should just about line up parallel to your curl cylinders when fully curled. That's how mine work, anyway.

The QA looks upside down to me.
Generally the ones I've seen the wider part of the QA is on the bottom.

I think you have a small problem on both ends. Most SSQAs I've seen sit at forward angle in the static position. I've never measured it..... but I'd guess maybe 15 degrees. With your particular forks, the QA attaches at a 90 degree angle (straight up and down). That, on top of the fact that your QA doesn't tilt back far enough is amplifying the problem. If you have the ability, I'd just suck it up and modify the QA holes to allow it to tilt back further...... if not, I guess I'd send it back and have it corrected.

For the record, my forks attach the same, but they do tilt back enough to use on level ground. Its never been a problem for me, but they definitely do not tilt back as far as a bucket on my QA.

There is something wrong with the QA bracket. Someone may have screwed uo in manufacturing, it looks upside down. The widest part should be the bottom. Here is mine that I just installed, it is factory NH. You can see how much curl there is.

Is the seller the manufacturer? Like everyone else says it looks upside down! Refund and start over!

If the bucket sits flat on the ground at full roll back you've got a problem there too. That needs to tilt back also.

I could see with one eye that there is something wrong with your adapter. There should be some roll back with the bucket and it's very obvious with the forks. You'll either need to put a wedge between the attachment and the attachment connection to lift the forks(and also the bucket) or get a QA adapter that is cut back about 15 degrees from the vertical.
The bucket should not be level when the curl cylinders are fully retracted. The edge of the bucket should be higher than the back of the bucket.

It is definitely upside down I'm not,saying you made a mistake on the install, but I myself have done similar upside down, and backwards things.) Mostly it is because I expect their is going to be some poor workmanship, or hard to follow directions,when I buy things, and I have a full shops worth of tools to fix the problem that doesn't exist. So as soon as I start to have a problem with something I say to myself "now Dave, before you turn on those cutting torches double check the instructions, and take a cold hard look at what you are doing." Then I still might call the company I bought it from, of look on the net. Let us know what happened, and good luck.

Thanks everybody, sorry I was away from this thread for a few days trying to get other stuff done around here... The seller agrees that the angle is wrong, they are taking back the adapter and the manufacturer will fix it. Kind of a PITA for me since they are on the opposite end of the country, guess I should have shopped for a closer supplier... but at least they are standing behind the product.

It does look as if they welded on the brackets upside down, however the adapter itself is certainly right-side-up (there's no way to connect to an attachment with an upside-down QA). There are actually three problems with the brackets on this adapter: the spacing for the bucket cylinder pins was too narrow, the spacing between the holes for the pins and the bolts that hold the pin in place was wrong, and as you all noted, the angle was wrong.

Something else you should watch for.... From your picture,
The bottom of the adapter appears to be below the forks.. This would mean the forks couldn't go level to the ground because the QA bracket would hit first.

Just something to mention to the company.
