Q: What is the best method for finding rocks?

A: Simply attach a bush hog to you tractor.

I swear...no matter how many time we walked our fields to rid them of rocks the bush hog can still find countless more that we overlooked. And the new Frontier 60 inch bush hog works great behind a 2320. Just make sure you have the FEL attached.

They multiply like rabbits don't they. I know the feeling. I plow the fields every year at my place and still end up going around picking up rocks. These fields have been farmed for at least 150 years and there are still big rocks coming to the surface every year. They need to make a pesticide for rocks. :)

The problem is with the brush hog out behind. What turns up rocks are often the tires of the tractor: turn them up on end. Then the brush hog blade comes along and nips the end that's turned up.

I'd often run right over rocks with my Gravely (with brush hog deck out front) only to "find" the rocks with the wheels of the tractor. Had to be more careful in going forward and then backing up. Rocks could then be sticking up.

You can also find them in just backing into very brushy areas that you can't drive (or walk) through. Rocks will often be sticking up back there.

Yea, I actually call my tiller the "magic rock finder." I'm sure there's someone burying rocks in the garden while I sleep.

This method also works for "locating" old tires and coils of barbed wire.
