I am looking at purchasing a new UTV to use at my farm in the next few months. I currently have a Kawasaki Mule 4010 Trans with 2" Lift and 26" Mud Tires. It does well but I am going leave this one at my house. We live in East Texas and it will be used in the River Bottoms which gets fairly muddy at times.

Here are the Specs:

Seats 2. Only need for seating of 2 up front. Do not need 2 Bench Seat.
Hydraulic dump bed
Oversize Tires- 26" +
Need Decent Ground Clearance
Reasonably Priced- Do not want to break the bank.

I see some aftermarket Hydraulic/ Electric Bed Dumps that can be mounted on to the Kawasaki Mules.

Here are the ones I have been looking at online.

Kubota 900
John Deere 825
Polaris 570 Full Size
Kawasaki Mule 4010

Does anyone have any suggestions or experiences for what I am looking for? It appears the above 4 UTV's have around the same bed weight and pulling weight.

Thanks in Advance,

You might consider which one has the closest dealership near you. To purchase parts or have it worked on.

Can get a factory dump on the Kawasaki Mules The pro-fx, pro-mx, and pro-fxr are all capable machines. 11-15k. Think the fxr comes with 27 inch tires.

Since you only want/need to seat two, Kawasaki PRO MX would be my choice over the Kawasaki 4010, for not much more more $$$ you get a lot more suspension travel, and HP.

You are correct, FSR has 27" tires, FX, has 26" tires, MX 25" tires and the 4010 23" tires.

Kubota is diesel and they sip fuel. They are very heavy duty and reliable. Top speed about 25 mph. They will out pull any of the others. You get what you pay for.

When I shopped, there were the Kubota RTVs biased heavily towards work and heavy duty use, then there was everything else. It should be obvious which category you want to get into when you look at them all. My RTV-X1120D tops out around 29mph, which is slow compared to others but faster than I usually need to go. It's built extremely well, the diesel engine is great, and the hydraulics are top notch. The bed dumps much faster, and without strain, compared to some of the electric-driven systems (some are a joke they are so slow and weak).

BTW, I am not knocking the other category of UTVs, which are more popular overall and sell in greater numbers. They are better at many other things. Just trying to point out the niche of the Kubota machines. Every buyer will have a preference for which direction to take.

Kioti Mechron? Great hauler and out-pulls my 26hp CUT with its similar 3-cyl Diesel and a 2-range variable belt vs HST drive (nice coasting vs some HSTs?), true 4-WD, great service access, wide bed & windshield ... Have to add tachometer & weatherproof toolbox, but a favorite workhorse. 4 yrs and 130 hrs in I might stop by my dealer and tell him I still don't needs parts.

I bought a new Polaris 570 Full Size in 2019. Added a roof, a winch and some mirrors. I sure do like it. Very zippy! it will run 45-50 mph, plenty fast for me. Normally the wife and I cruise around at 25 or less mph. The hydraulic dump bed works well and is plenty strong. We use it mostly for sight seeing and general cleanup around the Ranchito.

It comes with a hydraulic dump bed?

Or is that an add on?

Mine came with a gas lift assist prop. No hydraulics. I didn't think that was an option.

Has anyone have any experience with a Kubota Sidekick? I have been looking at them. They look pretty good. Have not driven one yet.

No experience, but they look good on paper. Kubota quality is top shelf. I could not find one in stock when i was buying last fall.

Yeah I'd definitely look at the MX over the 4010.

Just purchased a Kubota XG-850 Sidekick. Great machine. Built on the workhorse Kubota frames. Top speed 42mph. With the rebates Kubota are offering they are the best quality machine with the less expensive price.

When you say hydraulic dump bed you are referring to manual dumping? Pull a handle and dump the bed?
I have a Honda Pioneer 700 and it has a dump bed. We really liked the Kawasaki until we test drove the Honda Pioneer and it was much more comfortable ride.
And the Honda Pioneer doesn't have a CVT that uses a belt.

You might look at used if you don't want to break the bank.

What model Kawasaki did you try? Big difference between the 4010 and the PRO series.

This was 2 yrs go and it was an equivalent 4 door with about the same engine size. The dealer had a small trail to try out the UTV's and the Kawasaki road rough. The Honda was just more comfortable. Now that I know about the disadvantage of having a CVT belt I'm glad we went with Honda. And the Honda Pioneer comes with doors as standard equipment.

That had to have been one of the older style work Mules like a 4010 which do. ride pretty rough.
Curious what are the disadvantages of having a CVT belt?

I have a Diesel Mule and Electric 2wd Gator.

My dream ATV, would be an Electric 4WD, Utility Looking (Not all this plastic crap and decals) machine. Plus miles of suspension travel, not needed on a utility vehicle and a minimum of ground clearance.

I can't stress how much I appreciate the quiet of the Electric Gator. Given the appropriate ground conditions, it's ALWAYS the prefered choice.

Friends of mine procured a few "GREEN WORKS" Lithium powered UTVs for a Parks Department. I just looked it up on line. Too Wild and ugly looking for my liking though. And that typical short squat design with the tiny bed! Not exactly a good Uilitarian offering.

FWIW. My Mule Electric/Hydraulic lift, from new, would not budge a full load of elm firewood.
