ISEKI TA 247. Stihl Saws Gravely Zt's Polaris ATV's State Of The Art Welding Equipment
I did a little Brush Hogging today with my Woods Dixie Cutter, When I was finished, I pushed the Yellow Handled Lever down on my TA 247 to disengage the PTO. It went down but the PTO kept turning. I tried to shift out of PTO speed 2 and it was locked. Did not help to put everything in Neutral or to push in the clutch. Now, My PTO is running all the time. I hope there is an easy soulution to this new problem. Any Ideas? Or do I Now have full time PTO>? confused:

Thanks.,Gents.

Sounds like a linkage type problem yomax4 , But without looking I honestlly cant tell You how its hooked up . I have a 247 also , I,ll look afterwhile & see if I can see anything that might be causing your problem on Mine . Bob

Ok I went out & looked . I,m sorry I had sold the 247 . & now just have the 240 & 255 , Which are diffent from each other. But I would guess My 240 would be closer to yours then the other.

That being said is Your PTO controls on the right side or the left side . My 240 is on the right side. I took a few pics. & If You can locate where it hooks in after the linkages to at least eliminate a linkage problem will help. Unless You,ve allready done that.

The first pic is the PTO lever itself . Its hooked to a swing arm that goes to another lever that goes to the PTO control on the gear box itself which is in pic 3.

I would check all of those linkages & make sure everything is hooked up & not slipping on the shafts . Then if the lever going into the gear box is moving & Doesn,t have a clickish feel to it Then its inside the gearbox where the Problem is . Which is another story .

So if You can do some checking & let Me know , I,ll do some more checking & see what else I can find out. Sorry about the dirty tractor but I just got in from mowing. Hope this helps a little bit. Bob

I most definately appreciate the help. On my 247 there is a yellow handled pull straight up lever right in front of the Diff lock on the right side rear of the floor boards. That I am told engages and disengages the PTO. On the other side there is a 4 speed PTO shifter in the H pattern. The Yellow handled push pull lever seems to go in and out but the 4 speed shifter is stuck in 2nd. I am affraid its internal and I dont know why. This Tractor has never used the PTO since it was new. Anyone want to buy it> HAHAH.

Thanks.

Ok, sounds more like My 255 , But I dont recall using a lever on the right side though , Which doesn,t mean anything as I run them so much I can run it blindfolded .

So I,ll have to look when it gets light. But it does have the 4 speed pto shift lever on the left like You say. The pics above is the 240 & the controls are all on the right side so I,m sure they wont help .

I still think it could be something else other then internal , But thats just Me always wishing for a simple fix :D .

Anytime I ever have any kind of problems , the first thing I do is look for mudobers nests , Darn near burnt My big one up because They had built a nest in the steering column & shorted out the ignition switch  . But they seem to like the linkages as well .

Anyway I,ll look afterwhile & take some pics if it looks like it Might help . Untill then best of luck. I,d be interested in buying it if You were closer :D . Bob

OK, On mine there is no pto lever just the H pattern shifter & when in the nuetral position the PTO is off . There apears to be some type of linkage but its where I cant see it or take pics, without removing the rear tire . So once again I,m no help . .

So unless someone can add that has a similiar setup only thing I can do is wish You luck . Unless it would be helpfull for me to remove the rear tire on Mine & look at it a little closer. Just not sure it would help your situation though. Let Me know if you think it would. Bob

Hey Bob, being as how you are such a generous person, could you take the cylinder head off your tractor and let me know if the cylinders are sleeved or not? JUST KIDDING BOB!!! Knowing you you probably would, haha. Thanks for all your input Bob. I'm pretty limited with my smaller older model Iseki, but try to help when I can....except for removing the head that is! :D
