Satoh 650G
Hi - 1st post - my Satoh 650G has a Woods 60" finish mower on the 3-pt, and the Woods is a 540 PTO RPM machine.

Looking at the Satoh manuals ( glad to have them!), the low-speed PTO provides 540 RPM, and the lever should be in the down position? When I do this, the mower will run, but the tractor speed ( in 2nd High gear) is to slow. In order to get the mower and tractor to run 'right', I have to place the PTO lever in the up position.

I may be looking at the pictures backwards, but would appreciate ideas - don't want to damage the mower by using high speed - any way to confirm which is the correct lever position?

Thanks.

Two thoughts: First, the load the PTO is placing on the tractor may be enough that it slows things down, try a different road gear.
Second, you are not confusing the hi-lo trans range selector with the PTO speed selector, are you?

Thanks, Evan - I had used the mower before ( and thought I had the same gear/PTO setup) and got this different result. Trying a different road gear does not help, so I'm thinking it must be the PTO speed.
I've got the right lever - I know the hi-lo trans selector, and this PTO selector is on the back of the tranny, behind the seat. Just trying to confirm the correct lever position for 540 PTO RPM. If the manuals were a bit more clear, it would be easy.
