Does anyone know where I can pick up a used pto shaft for a John Deere #9 sickle mower. I tried the Deere dealer and the best he could do was order parts and piece it together and the total price was going to be well over two hundred.

I don't know the specifics of the PTO shaft that your mower needs, but a few months ago I needed a new one. I bought a log splitter without a PTO shaft and called about eight (8!!!) places before I found the right one. The guy said it would be $130 or so. I happily said I would take it. It was not even a high HP shaft but something in the lower range. Thinner then the one on my 7' rear finish mower that has a 40hp max rating.
Thanks for the reply. I went to tsc and one of them sent me to a farm that had all kinds of old farm equipment here in S.C. Wisconsin and I was able to pick up what I needed for 20 dollars. Had to scronge around in mud and rain but it was well worth it.
