Take a look at the DR Beaver blade. It is designed for saplings and has chain saw cutters on a circular disk. It is designed for use on the DR string trimmer heads. Just buy a replacement head from DR and adapt it to whatever motor you decide to use. DR also makes the blade for hand held trimmers. If you can find a used DR trimmer you could make a buggy similar to the JRCO shown in the last link.

For anything under 2" in diameter, I just use my brush hog. How would the PT stump grinder rotated 90 degrees work on stuff 2" and larger in diameter? Just curious.

It works OK if you're not in a hurry. It doesn't really cut wood. It bashes and rips chunks loose.

It does work surprisingly well at cutting through asphalt paving. It cuts about as fast as a walk-behind diamond saw, and leaves a decent edge.
