Yes, it's pressure treated lumber, with galvanized spiral spikes and end cut on the cut ends ;)

Vacation day #2 started off a little slow. I tired to burn some downed trees... but things are just too wet and they're pretty rotten. Decided just to chop them into pickupable pieces and make piles. Took the Mrs out to lunch, then got down to buisness again.

This is the connector trail. It had two muddy spots... so in the name of speeding up gravel delivery... and keeping my shiney new bike clean... here's what three loads of rock looks like; (there was water all where the rock is before I started)

This spot was muddy and leaned to the left pretty bad. It got the rock treatment first then two loads of gravel. Dry as a popcorn fart! :)

Started keeping track... dunno if you can see it...

Here we go

Of those I got two loads of gravel and four loads of rock today. Not as fast as I'd like, but considering the rocks are hand picked and laid... LOL

Hey, it's working!

Nice ATV, and really nice you got the little one too.

I thought you were getting a ranger instead of a sportsman??? Nice looking 4 wheeler!

Yeah, I really wanted a Ranger... but it was just going to be too much money. Getting the little one was my way of compromising... although she won't be able to follow me with it... it's strictly driveway and cul-de-sac for now. Once she's old enough the trail should be smooth enough for her to ride it on there.

So far I just have the bumpers and hand guards on... but I'm getting hand and thumb warmers, Kimpex Outback rear seat with passenger pegs, Glacier Pro 60" plow with side and top deflectors, shoes, and power angle, 3K Warn winch, Prospector Pro tracks, rear rack extentions, Koplin ratcheting grips, chainsaw mount... probably some stuff I forgot. LOL

The Mrs convinced me to wait for these tires to wear out before upgrading. Here's what's gonna replace them;

LOL, the finance lady kept joking that it was the longest list she'd ever seen... the wife didn't see the humor in that. LOL!!! Still, with all that and the little bike, it was only just slightly more then a new Ranger 900XP with no options.

I've got a couple fun projects in mind for this too. Heh heh heh. No surprise to those who know me. LOL

Nice trail, bridge, and bikes. I know all about the wet in the woods and the roots/stumps. Oh, and the rocks, which should be NL best export. Keep her going.

Thanks Scotty! Yeah, I've pretty much just have peatmoss with roots over rocks. LOL No fun to dig in.

My goal is to avg one load/ day as long as the weather/ flies/ heat are favorable. The skid steer plan kind of fell through with an unexpected expense. Oh well, it'll be that much sweeter when I'm done! :)

Our PEI sandstone hardy qualifies as "rock". As much as I lament not having any "real" rock here (like to put on the driveway), I'm glad I don't have to contend with what you are facing on your trail-making venture!

Took today and tomorrow off (as they're the sunny days this week ;) ) My goal was 6 loads of gravel/ day and I got 7 in today.

Sure is nice to have a rig that fits nicely in the garage... and starts every time. LOL

Installed two sets of tool holders. Sure beats having to slow down or bounce your shovel out!

Ready to go!

Loaded to the gills!

So, some sections of the trail are raised moss/ root rolling lumps. PITA to try to shovel/ pickaxe... but would be nice to get rid off... so I came up with this;

Lowest setting (3" from the ground)

Highest (7" from the ground)

Transport

before

after

It kind of worked... but not really. Ended up bending my hitch a bit. Oh well. Live and learn. Pick axe and loppers it is I guess.

I Totally agree, tool holders look good on the trailer!

Thanks alot guys! You're right Jay... it is starting to show... I've told myself that I'd tackle the muddy spots first and they're almost done. Then I'll cover over the loose rock as it's hard to walk on... the ends of the bridge at some point... then the hollows... then eventually the entire trail. Uh! LOL

I didn't meet my goal for the day, but I did get three loads of gravel and one load of rock. Ah well. 10 loads... aprox 5 ton in two days ain't bad.

The pile doesn't seem to be getting smaller... it actually seems to be getting bigger as I keep working my way across! LOL

If you look to the left you can see where the pile edge was

Picked up a couple rocks... one

two

three

four

Ok, the trailer's not full, but I counted this as a full load! LOL Here's where it went

Pictures don't do it justice, but it is pretty off camber.

I'm thinking of going for a different look with my fourwheeler... what do you guys think? :)

Gearhead, I have been wanting to build a little one room camp with a basement on my pond land. As hard as you work, and as sandy as my soil is, I think me and you could do the digging in a couple three days. So if you ever get down to NW Florida......

I'm really enjoying the thread. Glad spring has reached you so you can get back to it.
