:welcome: to TBN

Operators manual or the service tech manual?

The previous owner should have passed the Operators Manual on down to you. If you purchased from a dealer - see if he will help.

Yes - welcome to TBN and the forum.

Thanks. Just the OM. Service manual would be nice but I see they are very expensive.

Purchased at auction. No info of previous owner.

Welcome to the Forum. :welcome:

If you're new to tractors, the first thing you'll learn is nothing is cheap.

I paid over $200 for my Ford service manual set. Thanks goodness there's no computer on it. I hear you can get a foreign hacked version of diagnostic software for error codes but it's VERY expensive. The alternative is a dealer. JD keeps that stuff close to the vest. You own the tractor but not the operating system.

Try eBay for the owners manual. Save the search and eBay will email you when ever new items are listed. You may even find a tech manual there too.

Some models would display error codes in display. What lights are coming on? DOes anything seem to be malfunctioning when lights are lit? I am attaching a pic of dash. Area "D" is where codes may be displayed if it is equipped that way. If not equipped, then only way to read codes is for dealer to plug in. I am not aware of any "affordable" code reader. Most systems cost thousands of dollars. 5m display.PNG

Without a code to guide you it is hard to say what would be causing your problem. I would suggest to first check all fuses to be sure they are good. hen check for any disconnected wiring around hitch area. There is a hitch position sensor, draft sensor and hitch raise and lower solenoids around rear of tractor. You also could have hitch raise and lower switches on the fenders as well as the hitch controls in the cab. Problem could be any one of the solenoids, sensors, controls, wiring or the hitch control unit. Also could be a calibration issue that requires connecting computer to tractor to recalibrate.

Thank you. I’ve checked all wiring and fuses. I’ve searched the web far and wide for how to read codes on my machine. I cannot find out how too, with exception of a code reader. I don’t even know where the X10 Service ADVISORTM Connector is on this machine.

I have downloaded the diagnosis manual for my machine, also the repair manual. It has nothing in there about manually retreating codes. This video shows a similar machine getting codes with its “roll mode switch”. Mine doesn’t have that.. any ideas how to retrace these codes? Thanks...

What switches do you have? (There may be a substitute.) Is there a lever behind the throttle?

A photo of your console may help.

Do you have an ARC? What switch is on top of that?

Sorry, ARC?

ARC = Arm Rest Control. AKA, Joy stick.

Unfortunately it looks like you have no way of reading codes on your tractor without dealer computer. I believe that was not available for your model until a later year model. THe Service Advisor connection on your tractor is behind the seat. There should be a panel behind the seat held down with 2 thumbscrews. Remove that panel and on left side under cover is a large round black connector. That is where you plug in to do diagnostics. There is a performance monitor that can be bought to plug in to do diagnostics and calibrate hitch. Monitor and wiring harness to plug into diagnostic plug runs near $2000.00. If you have diagnostic manual, it will tell you how to use monitor to diagnose.
