<font color="blue">( is it possible that your number can change when people join or leave the site? ) </font>

No, your number will not change. To give you some idea as to why the 4000th Member isn't User #4000 here are a couple reasons:

- User #1 was a test account Muhammad made
- User #2 is Admin (which is really Muhammad)
- User #3 is Muhammad -- THIS IS THE TRUE Member #1 (So now we are off 2 numbers)

Through the years, I'm sure some people registered twice -- thus Muhammad deleted on of the duplicate accounts leaving a gap in the numbers.

Muhammad can probably explain some other reasons, but I think you should get the idea.

So, even though Tractornut has a Username Number of 4009, he is really the 4000th member.

I hope I explained that well enough. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Based on your logic, then I am 5021 however, I can deduct 9 if I like.. Why can't I just deduct 21, so I could be the 5000th person just like Tractornut has????? After all, that would only be a slightly larger "adjustment" and I could use your logic as the reason for the calculation. The way that I see it, the proper way is to use the number with your name. It is your joining number no matter how many were deleted before you and the fact that 1 & 2 are not used is irrelevant. I still would like the TRUE # 4000 member to be identified!!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif????

I would guess that the Member # is automatically created by MySQL using a column with the auto_increment attribute set. This method insures that every new record gets a unique number since numbers are not reused if a record is deleted. Most all databases use this type of attribute for generating unique record numbers.

We do not know how many test or deleted records Muhammed has used over the life of this system. What we do know is the you were the xxxth record added to the member table.

I have NO IDEA how you can use my logic to come up with your premise.

However, if you really want to know who User Number 4000 is, it's Argee

Other Notables:
3,000th Member: CedarRanch
4,000th Member: Tractornut
5,000th Member: SealyTX

I agree. I'm sure the user numbers are created by an Auto Number. There have been several users that were deleted in June and July. I am user 7665 and Henro is 7639. Both of us re-registered on 7/4/03. Before the crash, I'm sure both of us had lower user numbers before we got deleted.

By the way, I know why some users' posts show as the user name "Poster", because they were lost in the crash, but why do some old posts have someone's user name with the word "unregistered" under their user name?

Here's an example of one... under Stan N it says unregistered.

I can't see why someone would want to unregister from TBN? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Registration was not required for posting messages until 7/13/02. Stan's post was on 4/11/02

That's because up until about a year or so ago, you did not have to REGISTER to post on TBN.

You guys don't miss a beat. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

When we were assigning titles for 3,000th, 4,000th, and 5,000th members, those users were actually the 3,000th, 4,000th, and 5,000th members in our database. But since over the years some members get deleted (test accounts, for example), they may not have been the 3,000th, 4,000th, and 5,000th to join. That's why their user numbers are slightly off.

With that, while our newest user is number 9,261, we only have 7,789 members.

This means that out of 9,261 who have registered, around 1,500 accounts were either never verified by e-mail (~500) or got deleted (~1,000) for one reason or another.

Not sure if this matters too much, though. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
