Problem starting my DK40

Pur Animal,

Do you know what rod was bent? I do not know of any rods inside the injection pump. The older DK55 used a Bosch pump.

I know the glow plug circuit is operating properly. I ran all of the test possible on the circuit. I also know the glow plugs are all OK.

As for once the tractor is started, it will smoke heavily for about 5 to 10 minutes and slowly improve. As for the power, it appears to have a low power output but I cannot compare it to another Kioti DK55. I have an old Ford 4600SU which is rated by the PTO output at 53 HP. This old Ford, with twice the hours, just pulls a lot stronger.

Once the tractor is to operating temperature, it still starts hard but does not really smoke a lot.

The one thing I do not understand is the smoke color. My old Ford and my John Deere 310G backhoe will produce a little black smoke when under a heavy load. This would indicate a incomplete fuel burn. The Kioti will produce the white smoke under a slight load. Does this indicate quenching the charge?

Jim, I just don't know.. This is getting out of my realm. If you are convinced that the pre-heat and post glow functions are all working, and that the plugs themselves all heat, then you must go on to something else.

White smoke is un-burned fuel (or possibly water), typical of poor injector atomization or a cold pre-chamber. Black smoke (carbon soot) is partially-burned fuel, typical of excess fuel for the available air.
