We all enjoy the wealth of food available to us in this country, all the while farmland is being turned into subdivisions. The trade-off for having ultra high yield crops thru the use of chemicals might not be in our best interest. Then again starving isn't either....No easy answer.

Despite all of this stuff that's been going on for generations and was far worse in the past, people are healthier today with dramatically longer lifespans than even our grandparents. Food and improved nutrition gets most of the credit. So, life is a tradeoff.

That use to be true: US life expectancy drops for second year in a row - CNN

Edit: I should say: True, but whether that trend continues is to be seen. U.S. currently ranks 31st in world after Costa Rica and pretty much every other industrialized country in the world.

It has really not been that long since crop plants have been genetically altered to be immune to products like glyphosate so they can be applied directly to crops...

There is a tradeoff but unfortunately it's between life and health...

Just another False narrative used to try and scare the general public. If these zelots keep pushing their agenda USA will look like a 3rd world country with people starving in the streets , They are ignorant to think that farmers could supply the demand without technology and science. The chemicals used today are far safer than the ones of yesteryear . If your gonna bad mouth agriculture don't do it with your mouth full.

Our health is definitely decreasing because of food... however, it is because of food abundance and over eating rather than lack thereof.

We reached a peak in health a few years ago, but now, I rarely see a patient who isn't overweight. Our 'success' in farming has led to our benefit and ultimately our detriment. I'm far less worried about finding Roundup in my sweetroll... than I am about the fact that I can purchase that **** sweetroll at the gas station for $0.79.

The EASE at which we can put calories into our body will be the next big 'threat' to our lives. It is easily seen in that we have the 'fattest' poor in the world.

they should target the preservatives in the sweet rolls and processed foods as the "killer Chemicals " , It drives me crazy when people spew misinformation about things they see on facebook and treat it like the gospel .

Do your own research...I never made any claims...FYI...there has really not been enough time to determine what effects may result of modifications...

BTW...this thread is about finding glyphosate in consumer foods...not specifically GMOs....!

Its not the preservatives which is killing us... its the 4000kcal diets in sedentary people which will kill us. It is the diabetes, HTN, and PVD which will kill us. NONE of this is because of either preservatives or Roundup... it is simply because, 100 years ago, it took a lot of work to get 4000Kcal. Now... it just takes a pint of Ben and Jerry's on top of the XL Whopper meal with a Coke. All for the measly calorie OUTPUT of getting in a car and going through a drivethru.

Humans are designed as calories in = calories out. This is why Bering Sea Fisherman can eat 7000kcal a day and not gain weight... because they are working and working HARD. But those same 7K in a computer jockey will kill him.

Its not the genetic modification that causes harm, it's what is done to the plant after the modification such as roundup. Just because we can engineer a plant that can survive being treated with roundup doesn't mean it's good for us to eat that plant.

I find myself using common sense in these areas and usually chemicals that kill other living things are not something I try to ingest myself.....
