Printer memory

Can you save things to a lower memory so you can print out thing faster? Our printer a HP Officejet Pro K550 has 32 MB of memory. We have things that are 60-100MB in size and it's real slow. We do brochures of 100 at a time.

I would think that the printer mechanism is much slower than the data transfer. That being said if your jobs are bigger that the printer buffer it will have to send each page 100 times. I think the solution to your problem is a printer with 128MB of memory. (256 MB would be better)
Try posing your question to HP support on their website. They may be able to advise you of configurations or options that will speed things up.

You need to review the printer's documentation to see if you can add memory.
I also see this is an inkjet. They are only so fast. You may want to consider going for a laser color printer (but they're not so good a photos, IMHO) or sourcing the printing work out to a local Print-O-Stat or Kinkos.

a printer is a printer.
if you want 100 copies, use a copier.
doing your own color ink printing runs about $.27 a page.
Kinkos, Copy Max, etc... will do it for a lot less - especially once you figure out how much your paying in labor to print them out, wear and tear on your printer, etc...
ink is expensive on a per page basis.
laser toner is much less so - and there are some very nice color lasers out there under $500.
about 2-3 years ago I convinced my boss that buying 18 desktop laser printers was cheaper in the first year than continuing to buy ink for the ones in service at the time. (it helped that lexmark was having a buy 2 get one free special at the time, too)

the only other way i know of to speed up printing is to go into print properties and chang it to lower quality prints. (draft or quickprint mode)
