Pricing for Z720A

Does anybody have experience with the pricing for a Z720A? I've got a quote from a local dealer for $8300 -- MSRP is $8,655 according to their website. This is a multi-location dealer, so from my understanding they should have a nice quantity discount from JD on these -- at least, that's what another dealer with a higher price said as an excuse for their higher price.

Any thoughts? I want to get a good deal, but the wife wants the lawn cut quick!

for that price I would step up to the 900 series. I bought a 910A 54" deck for $7200 brand new 2 years ago.

It looks like a 910A 54" these days would cost 9,291 MSRP. I'm only using the ZTR for our house which has 5 1/2 acres with some hills -- which is the real reason I'm thinking of getting the 720A instead of an EZTrak one. Any Z900 model is probably overkill for me even though it's not that much more above the 720A. Oh, and I want the larger deck size. A 920A is over $11,000 MSRP, so now it's getting up there in $$$$.

wow! the prices REALLY have increased since I bought. I got the 910A as soon as they came out and ended up getting what I thought was a very good deal. turns out it was a GREAT deal for what they cost now for what appears to be the SAME mower. the 720A you're looking at is what they call/used to call the "estate series". in other words it's a good bit more heavy duty then the z-trak line but it isn't a full fledged commercial mower like the 900 series. this should do you nicely. I don't know if they still do this now, but back when I bought the estate series came with Kholer engines and the 7-iron deck and the 900 series came with the Kawasaki and the 7-iron pro deck. probably some more differences but those are the ones I can remember. I will admit that I cut a yard of similar size to yours, but no hills and I'm probably way overkill owning such a heavy duty mower but I don't care. at least I know I won't have to be replacing this in 3 years from it being slap worn out. I see you're using similar reasoning for your purchase too. I just grew tired of buying those homeoenwer mowers from places like Lowe's, spending $1,500+ on them, doing the required maintenance and then it STILL tear up from using it for what it was intended....mowing grass. I knew it wasn't operator error when I went through about 3 mowers in 4 years, yet this one I have now is going on it's 3rd season and hasn't had a hiccup doing the EXACT same things the others were being used for. heck this one is even being used on 3 more yards occasionally. I'll never buy anything but a commercial mower and outdoor equipment from now on, I don't care how silly it seems. in my opinion it's smart...buy once, cry once as they say.

your talking about approx. $500 difference between the 720 and 910, try them both out, you'll spend the extra just because the seat is so much more comfortable. But, depending on how hilly your property is, you may want to rethink the zero turn idea, I just got rid of one because it did not like hills.
