Well heck.. I'm just glad we didn't stray too far from talking about the price of Mahindras.
The only (sort of) reference point I have is from the least expensive Mahindra tractor, the 1120 SCUT and this was in August 2025.Anyone have data on how tariffs have actually affected Mahindra prices?
The cutter is around 3k all by itself which I think rediculous. The only (sort of) reference point I have is from the least expensive Mahindra tractor, the 1120 SCUT and this was in August 2025.
With FEL, 54"MMM, setup, delivery and 8.75% PR or NY sales tax, the dealer quoted me ~$19850 all-in with zero willingness to go lower.
I have no demonstrable data I can share but I can tell you as per notification from Mahindra the $24995 tractor will be closer to $27000 shortlyAnyone have data on how tariffs have actually affected Mahindra prices?
The manufacturer or importer is raising prices?I have no demonstrable data I can share but I can tell you as per notification from Mahindra the $24995 tractor will be closer to $27000 shortly
I do not know. The manufacturer or importer is raising prices?
I understand. Fine. Yet I am seeing sudden increases up to 50% on a number of Surplus Center products that had been stable for years. [[ ?? ]]This is why I find some of the media reporting wrong…
A local reporter ran a story saying if the 100% tariff goes into effect the cost to the consumer will double.
[[[[[It seems the reporter failed to account that in normal transactions there is also a markup above the product cost and this is after tariff]]]]]
If tariffs lower my income and or property tax I am for tariffs.
I have a lot of disgression on what I buy but not so much when it come to say property tax other than foregoing ownership…
Taxes of all shades and variety are my biggest expense.
Some of the wait staff at the local sports bar are very happy about the change to tip income.
Maybe I fix up that old car or tractor or look for second hand instead of buying new imported?
Based on invoice value of imported item. So, if tractor is assembled in the USA, then tariff is based on cost of each imported component or subassembly. But if tractor is assembled outside the country and then imported, tariff is based on price paid by importer for assembled tractor. Of course, all of these numbers are lower than the final sale price, which is why the current 10% - 25% tariffs aren't resulting in 10% - 25% price hikes. My understanding is the tariffs are assigned on the value of the components imported.
Yes, price paid by importer for imported item.Someone in the electronic business told me the tariff is on his cost and not profit…
A rising tide carries all vessels. If tariffs drive up the cost of new, the used market heats up, and prices rise by similar margin there.I own 50 assorted vehicles and only one bought new…
Most of my cherished hand and power tools also bought used...
Do you recall if that ~$3K is for the 60" mower on the Mahindra? I was just going through some of my emails, and the Mahindra sales fella I was dealing with back in July quoted me exactly $18750 cash price for a 1120 w/FEL and 60" MMM. The only additional would have been sales tax. Going with the 0% for 84mo financing would have been $20750 +tax, plus insurance. The cutter is around 3k all by itself which I think rediculous.
If you look at sales tax say on a 20k purchase in your state, that’s an additional $1750
In my state it would be$1400 and there’s no leeway with that.
But the cutter and your sales tax is adding another almost 5 grand to the machine.
Prices have gone up and our margins have gotten smaller.
So Mahindra has raised their prices on just about everything. The 54” mower now lists for $3350 but there is a special from Mahindra on these currently that reduces the price to $28 and change.Do you recall if that ~$3K is for the 60" mower on the Mahindra? He did mention to me that he would have to order the 54" mower as he only had the 60's in stock and he said going with the 54" would save me about $500.
You're right on with the mid mount mowers though. I would venture to say they are not worth it for the average owner. I can get my lawn cut quicker, easier and nicer with my old Craftsman rider.
Kodiak is an American companyIf Mahindra designed, tested, and built those mowers in the U.S. maybe they'd be $2000 instead of $3500. And Americans would be employed near their homes. And the product would probably be higher quality.
What has shocked me for the last 9 months is just how many people don't understand the purpose of tariffs.
Weren't they bought out by Paladin?Kodiak is an American company
Will anyone ever even look at Mahindra in the USA, if they can't keep their pricing way below Kubota and Deere? They may have been the best of the lower-priced options, but price was definitely a huge part of their marketing. So Mahindra has raised their prices on just about everything.
I think the way it's going, Kubota and JDs pricing is going up by the same amount, so that comparable Mahindra, Kioti, TYM or LS machine is still going to be $5-10K less. Will anyone ever even look at Mahindra in the USA, if they can't keep their pricing way below Kubota and Deere?
