Hi I am recently in the market for a tractor, I have never owned or been around tractors so any advice would be helpful. So far I have only looked at a JD 32 hp 4wd hydrostatic, with fel for around 17,000, does this sound like a good price or should I shop around a little.
In my area we also have MF, NH, and Kubota dealers.
Does anybody knows of a good internet site that sells tractors for a good price, if so is that a good idea or should I stick to local dealers.
Thanks in advance for your opinions

Hello...Are you looking to purchase a new tractor? Used? Attachments? What part of the country do you live? Many variables here.

that sounds like a used price on the JD.
what model, how many hours, what kind of shape's it in, etc...
also - what are you wanting to do with it?
all 4 of those are good brands.

Location, location, location
Unless you are in a REAL hurry spend some time here before deciding.
There are so many threads and unlike other things most people have multiple opinions.
Spend some time at each dealership and try and figure out if they are going to be around when you need them down the line. You'll kick yourself if you pay extra for an NH and the local dealer goes out of business. My local dealer for Kubota in Ms. is about to belly up.
I only know of three "internet dealers" I'd trust, but that's only based on a few emails and the opinions here.
good luck.

You can buy many other makes with fel that are around 30 hp/4wd,new,for way less than that. Look at kioti.

I live in southern louisiana, I plan to use the tractor primarily for mowing, but also for tilling and spreading dirt.
The price mentioned above was for a new JD, 32hp hydrostatic drive with fel. I was primarily looking at new machines because too many variables in used equipment and I know too little about tractors to sort them out.

Yeah,I don't like used stuff either.
Think deere may be the most expensive of all? Check out kioti, mahindra and the rest, you should be able to get a 28-35 hp hst tractor with fel for at least a couple thousand less than that deere you looked at.

But if money is no object than deere makes a good tractor,

I think flat and wet would be a good bet for S. Louisiana.

To Oceaneer, I knew zero about tractors before coming here. Use that search function and you will be amazed at the info here. There are some good people here that can and will answer your questions, just give them all the details and they will help.

SHOP,SHOP and then make your choice.I would be looking for a local dealer that would support my service & parts needs after the sale.I would also look at how long your local dealer has been in business,do they have a good reputation?Look long and hard,a tractor is a life time investment.coobie

Model is 3032e,
Land is flat and tends to be a little on the wet side.

OK, I just looked up the specs on the JD - now I understand the price point.
it's cute, and may well do what you want it to do, but I would go look at the Kioti ck30/ck35, Mahindra 3015/3215/3216, Kubota L2800, and/or NH1510 before shelling out the $$ for it.
OTOH, if you really liked it, it's not a bad price and JD usually holds its value well for when you decide to trade up.

We could assume that.. but might be wrong... there are plenty of places in north part of the state that is dry... just about everything south of I-12 is suspect though!
