There are a large number of companies selling "compact" tractors in the USA-----probably getting to be too many--but the market size is huge. We will probably see some consolidation (read --buyouts/takeovers) in the near future.
As I am writing this:
1) Montana is trying to buy Farmtrac--not too significant since neither one actually manufactures the compacts/engines.
2)Ingersoll Rand/Bobcat is rumored to be buying Daedong/Kioti---this could be significant since Daedong actually manufactures the tractors/engines. (I predict that this will happen--if it has not already.)
The point I am trying to make is, that there are only three companies, that I am aware of, (other than the Chinese ones) ,that manufacture the ENTIRE tractor including the engines, that actually market AND sell compacts here in the US, on their own,---Branson/Kukje, Kioti/Daedong, and Kubota.
All the rest buy their compact tractor engines from these three plus several other engine manufactures, mostly in Japan---(Mitsibushi,Shibaru,Yanmar,etc.)
I agree with halw---I think Branson/Kukje/Dongkuk Steel (parent co) is here for the long haul---they have a ways to go to catch-up from a marketing standpoint---but they are heading in the right direction, and the product quality is second to none.(IMHO, of course /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif)
