I am in the process of modifying my tractor with a PTO hydraulic pump. If I were to install a permanent pressure gauge in the system, would the inlet of the control valve with a T be a good choice?

That would be the perfect place for it. Be sure to use a Tee rated for the pressure (and not a cast iron plumbing one from Home Cheapot) and gauge rated for 3k or 5k PSI.

liquid filled gauge too!

As kennyd says get 3-5K psi guage. It is said a guage is most accurate in the center of it's range, hence if you expect 2500psi get a 5Kpsi guage. On the other hand the graduation will be further apart on a 3Kpsi gauge than a 5Kpsi guage so it might be easier to read. Either will work.

Thank you guys. I am totally redoing the loader hydraulic and I am surely going to have more questions in the near future. One that comes to mind is the drainage of the external tank (located behind the seat). Although not absolutely necessary, I am thinking it maybe important to have one to avoid uncoupling the lines for fluid drainage purpose. Maybe T the return port of the tank?
