I always pre-heat my engine before starting it to save wear & tear on the starter motor. I wait for the "pig tail wire" to glow cherry red and give it an eight second count before I crank it.

The other day I saw a bright flash in the view hole and the wire does not heat up red anymore. Anybody know what might have happened? Suggestions? As always, thanks in advance for your replies.

/ Pre-heater Question #2
The coil more than likely broke, does the tractor still start like it did when you say the light (orange glow) was working?
If so than it sounds like the indicator finally burnt out.
I'm allmost sure they are less than $10.00 bucks.

/ Pre-heater Question #3
Same thing happened to mine(3054).Swapped it out for a new one and that lasted for about 5 sec. before it melted also. Called dealer and they changed all three glow plugs(never started worth a da-- cold from day one) and that one is still functioning, but still doesn't start well cold:confused:
