Poulan Pro 42cc 4218a Chainsaw

My chainsaw locked up on me. After taking it apart I found my ignition module to be loose. I removed the flywheel and found a screw had loosened off the ground strap and was stuck to the magnet under the flywheel. It did some damage before I could get to it. It had mangled the once was ground strap. It also tore off part of the grounding strap coming out from under the engine. The last part I'm assuming, but it looks like where the ground strap is supposed to attach from the IM that it's supposed to meet at a screw hole which is plastic and from there ground to the engine?? Without the ground strap it started and I ran it but then when I stopped it, it wouldn't restart. Is this due to the lack of ground strap? If so, can I rig a ground somehow? I need my saw working today and tomorrow and can't wait for the $1 part to be delivered plus I think there's another broken piece which I think is the link to ground the IM, so what good will the ground strap fastened to the plastic frame do even if I had it. Thanks
