Posthole Digger gearbox ID

My neighbour has just acquired an old posthole digger in good condition apart from pissing oil.

Before he opens it to inspect the gears, bearings, etc and replace the seals, he wonders if anyone here can ID the gearbox? It has no exterior markings:

Most people would just replace the oil with corn head grease and call it a day. That is what I would do especially on a post hole digger. But sorry I can not answer your original question.
