What American cheese?We buy a pack of Hawaiian rolls and slice the entire bunch in half at once. Then we separate them.
Put in ham, or turkey, or ham and turkey and your favorite cheese. We use American on some and Swiss on some.
Make a mixture of finely chopped sautéed onions, poppy seeds and melted butter.
Spread a bit inside the bun tops, put the tops on, then spread a bit more on top of the buns.
Bake in the oven until the cheese melts.
