I have just returned from the dealer's lot to look at the Shaver PHD on the M7040 I'm taking delivery of next week.

They have screwed a 5 inch piece of extension pipe into the oil inlet to make the attaching/removing of the PHD return easier as it's difficult to get a wrench down there.

Problem is, it obstructs the bottom holes of the top link mounting holes. One may be able to squeeze past the middle ones if necessary, but the pipe extension will have to be removed to use the bottom ones.

Is there a better solution? I'm thinking of something like a 5" long socket that permanently sleeves the hose. I would like to get this resolved before taking delivery.

Thanks.

It would help if you could post a picture so we could see what you are up against.
BTW, Welcome to TBN.

The Shaver has been removed and the pipe is obviously longer than my first estimate of 5 inches. The pictures clearly shows how it obstructs the bottom set of top link mounting holes. If I ever needed to mount the top link lower, it would be a real pain having to remove and then later reattach this extension.

Is that the only fill cap for the tranny?

As far as I know (which isn't very far) it's the only fill cap.

Rubber hose or clear nylon tubing.

I致e had a 7040 for a year now?and have used only the top hole, and I致e attached mowers, box blades, and post pounders. Having said that, I put together a pvc adapter that screws into the return and only have it in place when using the post pounder?so it痴 only there when using the pounder.

I also fastened the pounder return line with a hose clamp when using. Found the surge in return oil made the return line bounce out of the adapter when using the pounder.
