posi lock wont engage

the other day i was doing some box work and when i went to step on the posi lock pedal the posi would not engage? is there a clip or pin inside i need to fix? how hard is it to fix this problem? what might i get into when i tear into it?

What kind of tractor do you have? And what model?

***edit*** Ok, I see it's a YM1500. It may be a broken roll pin or you may have to remove the hydraulic lift assembly to see if the shaft is broken....It's not too bad of a job and parts are readily avialable.

Somtimes on my 1700 it take a revolution or 2 of the wheels before it engages.

Actually.. if it works sometimes.. I'd look for other problems than a sheared pin.. if the pin was sheared off.. it would not work at all.

Is the shaft binding any?

yes it does seem hard to push the pedal (at times) other time it pushes easily but still doesnt engage.

I was thinking the same thing about the roll pin. It may be as simple as rust/crud inhibiting the travel of the spring and shaft to the bull gear, or binding on the case without lubrication.
