Portable Heater

Also I was looking at aux heat for my office (we keep the heat low during the day and I work from home) and was asking for suggestions for heaters last fall..

although the poster above likes his, the eden-pure heaters typically didnt get great comments/reviews due to the high price for same amount of heat..

Basically i was told a 1500 watt heater - whether a pelonis disc furnace($90) /ceramic heater ($30-$40) /milk house style with exposed metal coils (pretty cheap) /eden pure ($300) - uses the same amount of energy - 1500 watts...

I know I will be corrected if I am wrong, but that was what I was told

I agree. I bought one, and there is no magic. 1500 watts is 1500 watts, does not matter what voltage or amps is. I use unvented propane heaters all the time in winter, for at least 20 years now. Never had a problem except you have to take the hair spray can away from the other half or fumes from spray will stink house badly. Can not paint inside in winter either.

I to agree with the other's The edanpure or what ever name it has is no better or efficiant then any other 1500 watt electric heater. I speak from my experience with one.
I got sucked into the idea and all I did was waste $400 on the heater ( I forget the brand name) and paid huge electric bills for most of the winter. In the right setting, the right room I believe it will do a decent job, but don't expect it to do wonders.
Mine is now back in it's original box with it's remote and all it's paperwork. If anybody wants to give one a shot, I will make them a decent deal. $150 plus S&H
Mine was used for about 4 months in the winter of 2008. It is the "deluxe" model with the cherry cabinet, remote control and digital read out.

A Kilo watt hour of electricity will produce 3412 BTUs. Period,

electric heaters are all 100% efficient. EdenPure (pure rip off),

or $15.00 unit off the shelf at WalMart, or electric baseboard

produce the same amount of heat for a dollar billed.

Especially in a well sealed and insulated room, I do not like

unvented flame heaters. First off, you can burn of all the oxygen

and the unit will not work. Second you can build up gasses

that can give a wicked headache if they dont kill you.

In that case I am all for an electric heater, set at the minimum

you can stand, pay the bill, and be safe.

all the gas heaters i have used and use now, have sensors on them to shut them down if the oxygen level gets to low: thankfully i have never had a problem with any of them: maybe because we go in an out to much??? but i sure like the infrared far far better than the ones they refer to as "blue flame": and i have tried both: some say the infrared does not heat a room: but i sure have to go over an turn them down, very shortly after turning them on, an the blue flame that my sister has, will stay on high for hours before the room is comfortable??? i can't explain it, but they are both about the same distance away from where folks sit, an the same size room: plus the blue flame does next to nothing when you "back up to it" to warm your back side..
