Poor man's self propelled sprayer :)

For those on a budget here is a less expensive alternative to the much more expensive self propelled sprayers. This whole album is done with tongue embedded in cheek. So enjoy it. I had fun making it. P.S. I'm sure everyone knows to click on the picture to enlarge it. Not shown is the optional "Easy Rider" rifle rack.

First we have the mandatory picture of the supervisor. Who promptly disappears when the work starts.



Next we have a frontal view showing the boom assembly. This gives you 10' of coverage. Since it's a CK 27 we assume it's a small farm.



Then we have a closeup of the setup showing the optional spray wand for dismounted spraying. This works best when you purchase the optional auxiliary driver. This saves you mounting and dismounting.



Then there is the chemical storage compartment. You don't need much storage when your spray tank only holds 25 gallons.



The optional tool box is handy for storing nozzles, shackles and chains. Also for hiding gloves from kids, wives, and alleged friends.




The inside the ROPS driving lights for night spraying. There is even one for the old school operators so you can spraying driving backwards and get the stiff neck you're used to.

Nice set-up, will that go on the 3pt also? Looks like a top link connection in the close-up pic of it in the loader bucket.

Maybe a set of poor man backhoe stabilizer pads next. You must be sliding around with that big bucket.

I've been paying on that sucker for nearly 7 years. It's paid off in July.

It has a 3pt. mounting framework the tank sits on. The pastures I spray are long and narrow so it's easier to avoid the fence if I see it out front. The backhoe has stabilizer pads already. Unless I'm not getting your meaning right.

The flat plates on the end of the stabilizers are for mounting pads, thus the 6 holes. Have seen some good diy pads. Here's a Big Foot pad and a Kioti rubber pad

In the first picture I posted you can see the pads that come on the Woods hoe that I have. So far they have worked well for me.

Now that I looked at it on a desktop machine I can see the part of the pad that digs into the ground. My mistake.
Mike, I like your thumb on the hoe. Is it mechanical? Do you find yourself getting off of the machine to often to adjust it?
Something on my wish list and I can't justify a hydraulic unit.

It's a mechanical thumb. When picking up poles or smaller logs with it I just set it where it will grab the log at at the right position on the diameter. Other than that I don't use it much. It came on the hoe and I wouldn't ever guy one unless it was hydraulic.
