Nice job DD, I did something similar for my late father couple years back.
He had been using just a standard ball hitch but kept forgetting to keep the angle of the dangle correct and would force the ball out of the hitch. Which of course would damage the hitch.
Guess he went through 3 hitches before I built this gismo. Wish I had some action pics.
