Hello,my Mothers home is in cold climate, I am replacing backerod and sealant on all expansion joints on the concrete driveway and parking areas. The pole barn has two overhead doors separated by about 4' of wall with siding going down to concrete. There are gaps that look like they were never filled with anything, some small some bigger. What I was going to do is fill with as much backerod,or sand and backerod-whatever I can get in gaps and then cover with concrete sealant. Any advice or suggestions. I am rather new to this kind of maintenance. Thanks for your help! This area would be expose to weather snow etc. and it seems like it should have been filled in better to begin with.

Don't quite understand the configuration, but whatever you do, don't put concrete, sand, or anything else that will hold moisture in contact with pole barn siding. It will rust like crazy. You should have a trim strip or "ratguard" at the bottom of the siding and this should be directly fastened to the bottom treated wood horizontal timbers. These timbers should seal to the concrete.
