Actually, a quick n dirty ballast project.

A rented Ditch Witch did a great job of trenching, I dug 150 ft of trench within their three hour ($125) minimum. But then I had all that loose dirt to fill in. All in a tight corridor where attaching an implement would make the little YM186D too long to maneuver.

I lashed two 80 lb wheel weights to the Quick Hitch. This (plus the 80 lb weights already on each rear wheel) was just right to make the loader push like a (tiny) bulldozer. I have two more of these weights, if this hadn't been sufficient.

I recommend this approach - these are easier to store compared to a purpose-built ballast box.

Great idea.......I have an old washing machine tank filled with rocks that I use for ballast. Ran a pipe thru the tank......hooked it up to by 3 pt......works well. I like your resourcefulness!!

Replacing those old galvanized rusted out pipes in the farm i guess?
Yep! I should go back to the thread where I asked about modern plastic pipe and do a wrapup. We ended up running all 1.25" PVC mains. No more leaks!

I started out thinking about this ballast project based on building something with 3-point pins .... then took a shortcut when I was standing there staring at the weights on hand. pix: Weights already on the tractor, and a pallet of extra weights - four 80's and fifteen 10's.
